The Alabama Crimson Tide is headed back to Omaha for the first time in decades after winning their Super Regional matchup in Tuscaloosa against St. John’s this weekend.
Celebration was a bit delayed, however, after the final inning from Sunday afternoon could not be played until Monday morning due to weather and rain, but fans still returned to the stadium to watch a historic moment for the program and their first trip to the College World Series since 1999.

With 8-0 and 7-2 victories over the Red Storm, the Tide cruised to Omaha in style. Before the rain delay, it was a grand slam for Jason Torres on Sunday to put Alabama up by five and on the brink of victory.

Manager Rob Vaughn — who has now brought Alabama to the furthest it has been in almost three decades after just three seasons leading the program — addressed the crowd after the game finally concluded on Monday and thanked those who did come back, telling them how special this group of players for the Tide is and praising the group for what they have already been able to accomplish to this point.
Now, the page turns to Alabama’s attempt to win its first national title in the history of the program. With a matchup against Oklahoma on the docket this Saturday, fans headed to Omaha will have the chance to see something many of them never have.
