South Alabama Baseball Travels to Nationally Ranked Coastal Carolina for In-Conference Series

The South Alabama Jaguars take on the top team in the Sun Belt Conference against the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers on Easter Weekend.

The Jaguars sit at 18-11 on the season and 5-4 in conference play, and they are coming off back-to-back Sun Belt series wins against ULM and Old Dominion. However, the Jags dropped their midweek game on Tuesday to New Orleans 2-1.

Brennan Wright still leads the way offensively for the Jags with a .383 batting average and 41 hits, but he has been in a slump as of late. Jaxon Shineflew has stepped up tremendously as the Jags’ most reliable bullpen arm as he is 3-0 with a 1.78 ERA and has two saves on the season.

The Chanticleers are on a hot streak as of late as they have won their last eight games and 12 of their last 13. Coastal Carolina is perfect so far in conference play with a 9-0 record, and they are 21-7 overall.

The Chanticleers are no strangers to going on long win streaks as last year they went on a 26-game winning streak that helped propel them to the national championship where they would come up short against LSU.

Coastal Carolina is aggressive on the bases as well as they have 60 stolen bases, which is twice as many as South Alabama has.

This series will take place from Thursday through Saturday, rather than Friday through Sunday.
