High school football season is heating up on the Gulf Coast with our next stop of the Greer’s Markets Game of the Week taking us Baker High School for their huge region game against Foley!
The obvious major headline here is the first ever coaching matchup between twin brothers Deric Scott and Eric Scott and this has commanded a ton of the attention. Both Scott brothers are going to try to put their best foot forward and give their respective teams a chance to win what is a big 7A Region 1 clash.
On paper, the Hornets — led by quarterback Tate Graham — have the massive advantage here and a chance to finish in the top half of the region. Though they still have to play the Mary G. Montgomery Vikings, Baker is 3-1 in region plat headed into this one with only a loss to a very strong Daphne team.
Sitting at 4-2 overall, the Hornets also took a loss to Jackson and are coming off a big win last week against Robertsdale.
As for the Lions, they are currently 1-3 in the region and 2-4 overall. Last week, they were handled by a Fairhope team which has been one of the pleasant surprises of the area. Foley has lost three straight and has not tasted victory since their win over Robertsdale in week three, so they will be hungry to get back in the win column.
It should be a phenomenal night of football on Friday at Baker as we start to come down the stretch of a huge schedule for our WNSP crew this season!
Be sure to tune into the broadcast from Michael Brauner and Brian Genard on 105.5 WNSP or on the Sound of Mobile app!
