2015 Oregon State Beavers Season Preview: Predicting W's and L's

When you think of consistency and a team that always seems to overachieve every year, once of the first teams that may come to mind are the Oregon State Beavers. The Beavers always seem to play everyone close, despite not having the top rated athletes that say a rival USC or UCLA would get.

This hasn't slowed down Oregon State in the past and in fact, it has actually provided extra motivation which has allowed them to notch multiple shocking upsets over the past 15 years.

The Beavers now start a new chapter in their program's history thanks to the departure of former Head Coach Mike Riley. Riley, now the head coach of the Nebraska Cornhuskers, built a strong foundation that gave Oregon State a certain toughness about them that never went unnoticed.

Now former head coach of Wisconsin, Gary Andersen, takes over after Riley's departure and will look to build on what Riley has built the past decade or so. Much like Riley, Andersen has a certain toughness about him that shows in the way his teams play.

Whether Andersen was the head coach at Utah State or most recently Wisconsin, you always saw a strong team that never gave up and always competed no matter how big the talent gap was. This will be right up his alley now that he is coaching at Oregon State where they have always been known to compete with the "Big Boys" despite not being the strongest, fastest or smartest.

Oregon State's 2015 season will be the beginning of a new era as not only Riley leaves, but one of their best quarterbacks in program history Sean Mannion graduated following the 2014 season. New Beavers' quarterback Seth Collins is a freshman and will likely have lots of growing pains along with the rest of a young team.

Let's take a look at the entire 2015 schedule for the Oregon State Beavers and predict how we see them doing in each game.

September 4- Weber State @ Oregon State Beavers- Oregon State Beavers win 38-17

September 12- Oregon State Beavers @ Michigan Wolverines- Michigan Wolverines win 27-17

September 19- San Jose State Spartans @ Oregon State Beavers- Oregon State Beavers win 31-14

September 25- Stanford Cardinal @ Oregon State Beavers- Stanford Cardinal win 28-20

October 3- Bye Week

October 10- Oregon State Beavers @ Arizona Wildcats- Arizona Wildcats win 44-24

October 17- Oregon State Beavers @ Washington State Cougars- Washington State Cougars win 41- 27

October 24- Colorado Buffaloes @ Oregon State Beavers- Oregon State Beavers win 34-20

October 31- Oregon State Beavers @ Utah Utes- Utah Utes win 35-21

November 7- UCLA Bruins @ Oregon State Beavers- UCLA Bruins win 41-27

November 14- Oregon State Beavers @ California Golden Bears- California Golden Bears win 37-23

November 21- Washington Huskies @ Oregon State Beavers- Oregon State Beavers win 38-30

November 27- Oregon State Beavers @ Oregon Ducks- Oregon Ducks win 48-30

So, I see the Oregon State Beavers finishing the 2015 season at 4-8. This will be a major dropoff from the past several seasons, but with the loss of Coach Riley and quarterback Sean Mannion I don't see how this team can compete in a tough PAC 12 conference.

It will likey be a tough season in Corvallis this season, but to be fair if any team can sneak up and have a surprinsgly great season it would be the Oregon State Beavers.
