At times it wasn\u2019t pretty, but very effective.\u00a0 <\/span>Regardless of how it looked, following their 31-3 win over Arkansas State, the South Alabama Jaguars won their 6th game of the season and have earned a bid to a bowl game.<\/p>\n The Jaguars started out fast.\u00a0 <\/span>Running Back La\u2019Damian Webb broke off a 69 yard run on the first play of the game.\u00a0 <\/span>Four plays later, Webb punched it in from the 3 for the first of his three touchdowns on the day.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n South Alabama went 3 & out on their next two possessions, and their next possession only lasted two plays, but that\u2019s because Carter Bradley connected with Jalen Wayne for a 49 yard touchdown and a 14-0 lead.<\/p>\n So while the offense was inconsistent, but explosive the South Alabama defense was downright dominating.\u00a0 <\/span>The Jags defense allowed 98 total 1st Half yards.\u00a0 <\/span>They held Arkansas State to -23 rushing yards, sacked the quarterback three times, which included a safety.<\/p>\n Overall, the Red Wolves had 158 total yards and were shutout in the 2nd Half.<\/p>\n South Alabama only scored twice in the 2nd Half, but did put together two long drives.\u00a0 <\/span>The first one was 13 plays and 61 yards and they capped off the game with an 11 play, 52 yard drive.\u00a0 <\/span>All 11 plays were Webb running plays, who scored touchdowns on both 2nd Half drives.<\/p>\n It may have taken a few extra days, but South Alabama put their tough loss and poor performance against Troy behind them for a complete team win.\u00a0 <\/span>The Jaguars trail Troy by 1.5 games in the Sun Belt East and will need a Trojans loss to claim a Division Title.<\/p>\n If last week against Troy was considered an \u201cearned loss\u201d by Head Coach Kane Wommack, they\u2019ll need an \u201cearned win\u201d this week vs a very tough Georgia Southern in Statesboro.\u00a0 <\/span>A win the Jaguars will need to stay in the division race.<\/p>\n But for now it\u2019s time to celebrate.\u00a0 <\/span>The South Alabama Jaguars will play a 13th game this season.\u00a0 <\/span>At least\u2026<\/p>\n <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
