Quarterback Bryce Young led Alabama on a 9 play, 61 yard drive late in the 4th quarter with Will Richard hitting a game-winning 33yd field goal as the Tide survive Austin with a 20-19 victory over the Texas Longhorns.<\/p>\n
Young finished 27 of 39 with 213 yards and a touchdown pass, but the Alabama offense struggled most of the day.\u00a0 <\/span>After scoring 10 points on their first two drives of the game, Alabama went five straight possessions without a 1st Down.<\/p>\n Meanwhile, Longhorns quarterback Quinn Ewers, making just his second college start, had Texas rolling in the 1st quarter before leaving with an apparent shoulder injury.\u00a0 <\/span>Ewers was replaced by Hudson Card, who handed the ball off to Bijan Robinson for a 1yd TD run to tie the game at 10-10. \u00a0 <\/span>The Longhorns missed an opportunity to take the lead right before half, missing a 20yd field goal.<\/p>\n Texas did kick a pair of field goals, taking a 16-10 lead before Young hit Jaymir Gibbs for a 7yd touchdown pass and a 17-16 Alabama lead.<\/p>\n The Longhorns went back ahead on a 49yd field goal from Bert Auburn with just 1:29 to go in the game.<\/p>\n Texas missed a chance to potentially close the game out when Young eluded a sack and ran for 20 yards, setting end the game-ending dramatics.<\/p>\n Despite the win, Alabama played undisciplined and sloppy.\u00a0 <\/span>They committed 15 penalties with replays showing more could\u2019ve been called.\u00a0 <\/span>Highly touted LB Will Anderson lined up offsides, twice, before coming up with a big sack ending the Longhorns drive, resulting in the 49yd field goal.<\/p>\n The Tide improve to 2-0 and will host ULM next Saturday at 3P<\/p>\n https:\/\/youtu.be\/t8Ks2HoM87Q<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
