After Baker Mayfield went No. 1 overall to the Cleveland Browns, the Big XII was not heard from again.<\/p>\n<p>And don\u2019t think it doesn\u2019t matter when projecting which teams and conferences are going to have success in the future. Seven first-rounders played in January\u2019s national championship game. You can bet that Nick Saban with four picks and Kirby Smart with three are letting current recruits know who led the parade of future millionaires Thursday night.<\/p>\n<p>Overall, the SEC led the way with 10 selections in the first round. The ACC was next with six.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s no surprise that those are the only conferences to play for the national championship in the playoff era.
