MOBILE, AL \u2013 Former Alabama punter J.K. Scott joined Randy and Creg on the Sports Drive Wednesday.<\/p>\n

Scott spent four years playing at Alabama, where he was a part of the 2015 and 2017 National Championship teams under head coach Nick Saban. Scott never won the Ray Guy Award for college punter of the year, but he was a finalist in 2014 and 2017.<\/p>\n

\u201cCoach Saban is really good about specialists because he understands that when a specialist makes a mistake, they\u2019re not trying to,\u201d Scott said. \u201cHe\u2019s always been more on the supportive and encouraging side of things.<\/p>\n

“Coach Saban does a really good job managing his specialists. The other thing he does a good job of is that he understands specialists have their routine, and they know what they need to perform. He does a good job of allowing us to do the things that we need to do because it\u2019s very different than being a DB or a lineman.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Alabama graduate punted 243 times in his collegiate career for an average of 45 yards per punt. His longest punt last season was a 64-yard punt in the Crimson Tide\u2019s loss to Auburn.<\/p>\n

\u201cI played with some really talented players on some really good teams with great coaching,\u201d said Scott. \u201cYou don\u2019t get any better than that. I was really lucky to be in a position like that. I had a lot of fun going to four playoffs and winning two national championships.\u201d<\/p>\n

Scott will play in the 2018 Reese\u2019s Senior Bowl on Saturday, where he will try to impress scouts and coaches that can lead to a career in the NFL.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy goal is to train this offseason and perform the best that I can, so that I can get better and do the best that I can,\u201d Scott said.<\/p>\n
