In the other two sports, the SEC teams had to navigate fields of 64 teams.
Fans around the country frustrated by Alabama and Georgia shutting out of the other conferences are crying for a different format. But what would make anybody think that an expanded format would produce different results?

Any scenario for an eight-team football playoff would have included Auburn in addition to Alabama and Georgia. So, instead of 2 out of 4 from the SEC, the tournament would have included 3 of 8. There’s no reason to believe the championship game wouldn’t have still included two SEC teams.
One option for changing this would include allowing only one team from each conference to make the NCAA Tournament in every sport. Short of that ridiculous proposition, the only way to combat the SEC’s dominance is to, you know…

Actually beat them.

For Threaded Fasteners, I’m Randy Kennedy with Nuts and Bolts of the Game.

http://wnsp.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/NutsBolts010518.mp3

It’s Alabama and Georgia for the football national championship Monday night in Atlanta.
