{"id":417190,"date":"2017-11-17T17:01:00","date_gmt":"2017-11-17T23:01:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/wnsp.com\/wordpress\/?p=417190"},"modified":"2017-11-17T17:01:00","modified_gmt":"2017-11-17T23:01:00","slug":"history-shows-you-have-to-be-great-to-win-the-iron-bowl","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wnsp.com\/wordpress\/history-shows-you-have-to-be-great-to-win-the-iron-bowl\/","title":{"rendered":"History shows you have to be great to win the Iron Bowl"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/wnsp.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/NutsBolts-11-17.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-large wp-image-417194\" src=\"http:\/\/wnsp.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/NutsBolts-11-17-1024x384.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"384\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s time to drop all debate about the greatest rivalry in college football.<br \/>\nIt\u2019s the Iron Bowl and it\u2019s not even close.<\/p>\n<p>For this argument, I\u2019m not even going to factor in the passion of the fans, the proximity of the schools and their fan bases or the fact that tickets for next week\u2019s game are more scarce than fashion-forward jeans in Nick Saban\u2019s closet.<br \/>\nLet\u2019s look simply at how good a team has to be to win the Iron Bowl.<\/p>\n<p>Starting in 2008, the last nine Iron Bowl winners have entered the game ranked first, second, second, second, second, fourth, second, second and first.<br \/>\nThat\u2019s nine years in a row in which if you weren\u2019t already ranked in the top 4 you weren\u2019t winning the Iron Bowl.<\/p>\n<p>By comparison, only five times in the last 20 years has the Ohio State-Michigan winner entered that rivalry week ranked in the top 4.<br \/>\nThat incredible Iron Bowl streak could continue this season.
