But did he?
We later learned that White would be suspended for the first two games of the season for unnamed violations. Therefore, the announcement that Stidham had won the job wasn’t entirely true. Even if White had been considerable better, Stidham was going to be the starter in the first two games while White served his suspension.
Now that White is back, should we be asking again which Auburn quarterback is going to win the job?
Certainly, Stidham and White should both get plenty of snaps against an overmatched Mercer team Saturday.
Could that be a competition to determine who leads the Tigers the rest of the season?
Nobody is saying that Stidham is in danger of losing the job. But, then, nobody was saying there wasn’t really a true competition in the preseason.
For Threaded Fasteners, I’m Randy Kennedy with Nuts and Bolts of the Game.

http://wnsp.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2017/09/NutsBolts091517.mp3

UPDATE: White is out at Auburn.

“Sean White is no longer a part of our football program at Auburn,” coach Gus Malzahn said in a statement. “He has made poor decisions that are not in the best interest of our program, and more importantly, himself.
