Kirby Smart has a long way to go to catch up with his former boss when it comes to success on the football field.<\/p>\n

But if the University of Georgia was hoping for a Nick Saban clone when they hired Smart, they’re already starting to see results on the recruiting trail.<\/p>\n

Take a look at the top players in the class of 2019, the players who just completed their sophomore seasons.<\/p>\n

It’s still a long way to go before February 2019, but there is a trend developing. Of the top 34 players in the country only six have committed to a college. Georgia is the only school with more than one of those commitments.<\/p>\n

Receiver Jadon Haselwood of Ellenwood, Georgia, committed to the Bulldogs this week, joining IMG Academy defensive end Nolan Smith as a Georgia commit.<\/p>\n

Alabama, Florida, Miami and LSU each have one of those top commitments.<\/p>\n

Nobody is saying Georgia is on the verge of a historic run of success on the field. But it is clear that the days of Georgia conceding great recruits — especially those inside the state of Georgia — is coming to a halt.<\/p>\n
