The trade of DeMarcus Cousins to New Orleans will team the Mobile native with Anthony Davis to form the best front-line duo in the NBA. The pairing makes the Pelicans one of the most interesting and dangerous teams in the NBA.<\/p>\n

It also marks the point in Cousins’ career when he will either begin to reach his hall-of-fame potential or earn the label as one of the great what-could-have-been stories.<\/p>\n

The former star at LeFlore High is one of the top 10 players in the world. But he’s also one of the most volatile. He leads the league in technical fouls and surly responses.<\/p>\n

But now there’s a chance for a new start. Cousins is coming home\u2014as close to home as an NBA player from Mobile can\u2014with a chance to start over with one of the league’s great running mates.<\/p>\n

If Cousins takes advantage of the opportunity, he now has a great chance to be much more than a freak athlete who plays outside the national spotlight.<\/p>\n

If that happens, New Orleans will soon be a destination for basketball fans, particularly in Mobile.<\/p>\n
