We should probably wait until after the bowl games to decide if the SEC is really down this season.<\/p>\n

But we don’t have to wait another day to definitely declare that SEC fans are down on their teams. And with good reason.<\/p>\n

By my count, fans from only three of the 14 SEC teams are feeling good about their programs at the moment.<\/p>\n

Alabama has won 24 games in a row and headed toward a possible fifth national championship in eight years. That’s reason to be happy.<\/p>\n

Vanderbilt beat the Champions of Life to claim the champions of Tennessee title. The Commodores are going bowling after an impressive finish with wins over Ole Miss and Tennessee.<\/p>\n

And Kentucky set the stage for a happy bowl trip by beating 26-point favorite Louisville Saturday.<\/p>\n

But the rest of the SEC? Sad.<\/p>\n

Auburn has lost six in a row to Alabama and Georgia.<\/p>\n

Florida is in the SEC title game again but was handled by Florida State Saturday.<\/p>\n

Georgia lost to Tennessee, Florida and now Georgia Tech at home in Kirby Smart’s first year.<\/p>\n

South Carolina was blown out by in-state Clemson.<\/p>\n

Texas A&M lost its last four SEC games.<\/p>\n

In the state of Mississippi, Dan Mullen’s Bulldogs won at Ole Miss, but they are still only 5-7. The Rebels are now the best seven-loss team in the country.<\/p>\n

Things will get better eventually, but for now, it’s mostly a sad time to be a fan of an SEC team.<\/p>\n
