Every week on the\u00a0Tobias & Comer<\/a>\u00a0Coaches\u2019 Corner, Mark, Lee and Michael will talk to a local area high school coach to get the scoop on what\u2019s going on with their team, how our local schools are faring on their respective pushes to bring Blue Maps back to the Gulf Coast, and everything in between.<\/p>\n

In this week’s edition, we were joined by LeFlore Rattlers head coach Jonathan Mitchell, who has his team off to a very impressive 2-0 start following an absolutely thrilling victory over Davidson this past Friday night. With region play starting this week against Satsuma, the Rattlers look like a team who can surprise some folks this year with their first 2-0 start in more than 20 years.<\/p>\n

Mitchell talked about what it’s taken to build the early foundations of a culture which is trying to turn the program around, and it’s not a responsibility he takes lightly.<\/p>\n

“Ever since I got here I knew these kids have not seen a lot of success, so I came in preaching the fact that we are going to win and doing what it takes to be successful,” Mitchell said. “Making sure the guys understand what it takes to win. These guys are fighting hard. We’ve been down in the fourth quarter the last two weeks, and for my guys to come back and fight, shows me these guys have grit and are not gonna give up on me, so I’m not giving up on them either.”<\/p>\n

After Satsuma, it will be two more consecutive region games against Orange Beach and Citronelle before a non-region game against Alma Bryant and the showdown against Vigor.<\/p>\n

It’s a tough run of games for the Rattlers, but through two weeks so far, this looks like a completely different program than it’s been for the last number of years. Best of luck to LeFlore moving forward and congratulations to Coach Mitchell and the program on an impressive start to the year.<\/p>\n
