Appropriate members of The Board of Trustees have been notified of the proposed terms of the new agreement and it will soon be formally\u2026 <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/C1EMJGvOQy\">pic.twitter.com\/C1EMJGvOQy<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Yea Alabama (@yea_ala) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/yea_ala\/status\/2040836907030994993?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">April 5, 2026<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>While Byrne did not provide additional salary details, a top-five deal would bring Oats above $6 million annually after he earned $5.5 million this past season.<\/p>\n<p>Since arriving to Tuscaloosa, Oats has ushered in a golden era of Alabama basketball with six straight NCAA Tournament appearances and four straight trips to the Sweet Sixteen, something only two other programs in the country can boast.<\/p>\n<p>Oats was one of the names rumored to be\u00a0of interest for the North Carolina job, but just as he did two years ago when he was up for the Kentucky job, he instead signs an extension to keep him at Alabama and continue raising his salary.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m not a guy that\u2019s always trying to jump around,\u201d Oats said during the tournament a couple weeks ago when his name came up for UNC. \u201cI love Alabama. My girls love Alabama\u2026[Alabama] is doing everything we can to make sure we\u2019ve got a competitive program. As long as we\u2019re able to compete to win championships here\u2026I\u2019d love to be the coach to bring us our first national championship.
