Every year, companies go all out to have what the public considers “the best” Super Bowl ad during the big game. With these spots going for 8 million on the rate card, it’s important for your spot to hit the mark. We asked around the offices of WNSP and 92Zew for our staff’s favorite or most memorable ad from this year’s big game. Below are the choices and reasons behind them.<\/p>\n
Mark Heim – Xfinity (Jurassic Park)<\/strong><\/p>\n \u201cXfinity\u2019s Jurassic Park spot kept things light with the right hint of nostalgia without going ver the top on celebrity sightings. Jeff Goldblum, Laura Dern and Sam Neill returned to their iconic roles and hit just right. The spot was fun, creative and a blast from the past.\u201d<\/p>\n Lee Shirvanian – Dunkin\u2019 (Good Will Hunting)<\/strong><\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019m not going to give a real sophisticated answer like it made me want to go eat donuts because I don\u2019t. But it was really cute, a good spin on a great movie.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Creg Stephenson – Dunkin\u2019 (Good Will Hunting)<\/strong><\/p>\n \u201cThe Dunkin ad pushed all the right buttons for 90\u2019s nostalgia, though admittedly the digital de-aging of Jason Alexander and Matt LeBlanc was a little unnerving.\u201d<\/p>\n Michael Brauner – None<\/strong>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019m not a Super Bowl commercial guy. None of them do anything for me. I went and grabbed a rib every commercial break.\u201d<\/p>\n Jaret Bates – Lay\u2019s (Last Harvest)<\/strong><\/p>\n \u201cA potato commercial cut the onions. This ad had it all. The song choice was great, the ad\u2019s concept pulled at heartstrings. A shoutout to America\u2019s farmers. This ad hit all the right notes for me.\u201d<\/p>\n Pablo Foster (92Zew) – Instacart (Bananas)<\/strong><\/p>\n \u201cBenson Boone and Ben Stiller doing flips and singing about bananas. Doesn\u2019t get any better. My wife was nearly falling out of her chair from laughter.\u201d<\/p>\n Matt McCoy (92Zew) – Bud Light (Keg Roll)<\/strong><\/p>\n \u201cThe combination of the entire wedding part diving down the hill in slow motion with Post Malone and Peyton Manning in the mix, all put to Whitney Houston\u2019s I Will Always Love You was hilarious! Especially at the end when the other guy says \u201cThis was not necessary there is a trail right over there.\u201d<\/p>\n Gene Murrell (92Zew) \u00a0– Slept through it.<\/strong><\/p>\n \u201cA boring game and boring commercials. Bored me to sleep\u201d<\/p>\n Collective Honorable Mention: Budweiser<\/strong><\/p>\n Wow. That screamed America. Beer, Horses, Birds. Budweiser, the Clydesdales, a Bald Eagle. Lynyrd Skynyrd’s Free Bird blaring through the speakers. SO. MUCH. FUN. Budweiser wins the award for “Most Patriotic” and “Most On-Brand”. They knocked it out of the park with this year’s ad!<\/p>\n Collective staff pick for WORST ad: Coin-base<\/b><\/p>\n For 95% of the commercial the audience had no idea what it was advertising. Did we all jam out a little bit? Yes. However, it misses the mark and won\u2019t go down as a memorable commercial for the brand. Felt like they squeezed out the 8 million for their spot and forgot they had to submit a commercial until the last minute and just sent a clipped down karaoke video from YouTube. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
