Week four of the high school football season has come and gone, and the Pigskin Pete crew has named a new Bryant Bank Player of the Week.<\/p>\n
This week, the tremendous honor goes to someone who has been putting up flat-out ridiculous numbers in running back Kollin Wilson of Gulf Shores. Wilson carried the ball 21 times for 313 yards and 4 touchdowns against McGill-Toolen in what was an absolutely massive win for the Dolphins, their first of the season in 6A.<\/p>\n
Averaging nearly 15 yards per carry, Wilson was flat-out dominant in a game that was initially supposed to be played at Gulf Shores but had to be moved to McGill due to field conditions from the rain last week.<\/p>\n
Wilson’s performance ended the three game losing streak that the Dolphins started the season on with tough losses to Choctawhatchee (FL), Mary G. Montgomery, and Saraland. Due to a quarterback injury in week one, Wilson has been playing a ton out of the wildcat, even rushing for over 400 yards in the loss to MGM.<\/p>\n
“He’s a special player,” Dolphins head coach Mark Hudspeth said of Wilson on Monday. “He’s a special type of player and on top of that he’s a special type of kid. We are just really proud of him.”<\/p>\n
Wilson is committed to Mississippi State and will look to play early for a rebuilding Bulldogs program. The Dolphins will take on Blount on the road next week and look to pick up another region win.<\/p>\n
