The Davidson Warriors were searching for a new head coach following the offseason retirement of longtime Mobile County coach Rick Cauley.<\/p>\n
The school landed on someone who has been under Cauley for a very long time and like Cauley, in Mobile for a very long time. Ben Thomas of AL.com first reported<\/a> over the weekend that John Lambert, who had already been serving as the team’s interim coach, was being promoted to the full time job.<\/p>\n Lambert, who graduated from Murphy and spent the previous 19 years there before arriving to Murphy, has served as an assistant under some of the area’s most legendary coaches including Terry Curtis and Ronn Lee.<\/p>\n Ironically, Davidson will be taking on Murphy in the first game of the season this year on August 23.<\/p>\n He hopped on the Opening Kickoff on Monday morning to talk about a myriad of topics including what he brings to the table as a head coach.<\/p>\n “I’ve been around a long time,” Lambert said. “You try to treat your players the way you would’ve wanted to be treated…make them happy to be here.
