{"id":1056141,"date":"2024-03-25T10:25:58","date_gmt":"2024-03-25T16:25:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wnsp.com\/wordpress\/?p=1056141"},"modified":"2024-03-25T10:25:58","modified_gmt":"2024-03-25T16:25:58","slug":"alabama-moves-on-to-third-sweet-sixteen-under-oats","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wnsp.com\/wordpress\/alabama-moves-on-to-third-sweet-sixteen-under-oats\/","title":{"rendered":"Alabama Moves On to Third Sweet Sixteen Under Oats"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>(Matthew Maxey\/Icon Sportswire)<\/p>\n<p>The Alabama Crimson Tide are still dancing.<\/p>\n<p>In an absolute slugfest that came down to the final minutes Sunday, Alabama defeated the Grand Canyon Antelopes 72-61 in the Round of 32 via a 10-0 run down the stretch to close it out.<\/p>\n<p>The victory pushes Alabama to its third \u2018sweet sixteen\u2019 placement in the last four years, and the first time it has reached back-to-back Sweet Sixteens since 1990-91 under Wimp Sanderson.<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>It was a matchup that, at times, felt more like a wrestling match than a basketball game, with players from both teams in foul trouble all night due to the physical nature of the game.<\/p>\n<p>Grand Canyon attempted 37 free throws but did not make the most of the opportunities by officials, missing a staggering 14 of its attempts while Alabama missed just six of its 22 attempts.<\/p>\n<p>Alabama led by 8 at halftime after closing out the first frame with one of its best runs of the night, but the first half didn\u2019t come without cost as Latrell Wrightsell was lost early on due to a head injury.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">BIG SLAM FOR NICK PRINGLE \ud83d\ude24<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/MarchMadness?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#MarchMadness<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/AlabamaMBB?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@AlabamaMBB<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/RPzPLYbIM9\">pic.twitter.com\/RPzPLYbIM9<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&mdash;
