For his efforts, he was awarded as the <a href=\"https:\/\/yellowhammernews.com\/alabama-wr-commit-ryan-williams-secures-back-to-back-mr-football-titles\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">first-ever back-to-back Mr. Football<\/a> in the state of Alabama.<\/p>\n<p>He had been committed to Alabama since October of 2022, but re-opened his recruitment after the <a href=\"https:\/\/yellowhammernews.com\/saban-cites-health-concerns-age-as-reasons-for-retirement\/#:~:text=Saban%20cites%20health%20concerns%2C%20age%20as%20reasons%20for%20retirement%20%2D%20Yellowhammer%20News\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">retirement of Nick Saban<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>But even with Auburn and Texas in hot pursuit of the superstar, DeBoer was able to land his commitment and now Alabama fans can breathe a sigh of relief with pen officially to paper.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Ryan Williams with a few words before signing his national letter of intent. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cRoll Tide!\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/eHDy5QGfiY\">pic.twitter.com\/eHDy5QGfiY<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&mdash; Anna Snyder (@annaesnydr) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/annaesnydr\/status\/1755272254470967450?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">February 7, 2024<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>This past season, which was his junior year, Williams caught over 70 passes for 1,320 yards and 19 touchdowns. He also rushed for nearly 300 yards, threw a touchdown pass and had two return touchdowns.<\/p>\n<p>As a sophomore in 2022, he did even more, catching 88 passes for over 1,600 yards and had over 40 total touchdowns.<\/p>\n<p>Simply put, Williams is one of the best players in the nation and has a chance to contribute to Alabama&#8217;s offense from the day he steps foot on campus.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<div class=\"mh-excerpt\"><p>One of the most dramatic recruitments in recent Alabama high school history has finally come to a close.
