ASWA Poll: WNSP Gameday features 6A #1 at #3

MOBILE, AL (WNSP) — This week on WNSP High School Gameday, it’s No. 1 at No. 3, courtesy of the ASWA poll.

Spanish Fort (5-1) will cross the bay to take on Blount (5-1). Both teams’ only loss came to McGill-Toolen, the undisputed No. 1 team in 7A.

At the time of each game, though, both teams were No. 1 in their class. The Toros lost 24-3 in week one, and the Leopards were beaten 45-12 this past week.

McGill is not the only local team in the 7A poll, though. Davidson, who also joins the “only loss is McGill” club, comes in at No. 7.

The Yellow Jackets host Alma Bryant this week, and the Warriors travel to Montgomery in Semmes.

UMS-Wright is the only local team ranked in the 4A class, and it is the only other local team ranked No. 1 in its class. The Bulldogs host Faith Academy this week, who won its first game of the season in Gulf Shores last Friday.

No. 2 St. Pauls (2-1) is the lone Mobile team in the Class 5A poll, although Vigor is receiving votes. The Saints play on the road at Jackson, and the Wolves will go to Williamson.

In 3A, Mobile Christian represents its county in the No. 4 spot, and Bayside sits just outside the poll with some votes. The Leopards will travel to Flomaton this week, while the Admirals will host Hillcrest-Evergreen.

WNSP Gameday coverage begins with the Opening Kickoff live at Blount, and continues at 6 p.m. with Pigskin Pete’s Pregame, followed by the live broadcast at 7, and Postgame with Pigskin till midnight.
