ASWA Poll: Vigor moves to No. 9

aswa-poll-10-13MOBILE, AL (WNSP) — Sometimes, no change is a good thing, especially for Mobile County high schools.

The four teams that sat atop their classes last week remained there. In fact, there was no significant change, save for one team—Vigor moved into the No. 9 spot in Class 5A.

McGill-Toolen had no problems against MGM last week, winning 45-7 to keep its No. 1 spot in 7A. No. 6 Davidson had no issues with Fairhope, either, and gave Coach Fred Riley his 100th win 31-7.

The Yellow Jackets host Baker tomorrow, and the Warriors travel to Jackson, who sits a spot ahead of Vigor in the poll.

For the second week in a row, Blount is No. 1 and Spanish Fort is No. 6. Again, the only loss for either team is to McGill or each other.

The Toros took care of Foley last week 27-6, and the Leopards beat LeFlore 57-18. They travel to Daphne, who, by receiving votes, is the only other Mobile or Baldwin team ranked in 6A.

Spanish Fort hosts Saraland tonight, in a game that will be broadcast on ESPN2.

St. Paul’s again tops class 5A, after beating Citronelle 35-14. The Saints will host the No. 9 Wolves this week, who joined the poll after beating No. 8 Jackson 17-14.

That game will be WNSP’s High School Football Game of the Week this Friday. Coverage begins at 7 p.m., follows Pigskin Pete’s Pepsi Pregame Program, and followed by more Pigskin Pete until midnight.

With the 35-0 win over W. S. Neal, No. 1 UMS-Wright reclaims its top spot. It travels to Thomasville Friday.

Mobile Christian maintains its No. 4 rating, having beat Hillcrest-Evergreen 31-3 last week. It

Bayside Academy, the third Baldwin County team in any poll, is only receiving votes, after its 41-6 win over Cottage Hill. The Admirals travel to Brewton to play No. 8 T. R. Miller.
