MOBILE — The 2015 University of South Alabama Athletic Hall of Fame class will include Ronnie Arrow, Olga Mencnaroska and Tonny Okello. The induction ceremony will take place at the Laidlaw Performing Arts Center Sept. 26 and the trio will also receive recognition that day at halftime of the Jaguars’ football game against North Carolina State at Ladd-Peebles Stadium.
The USA Athletic Hall of Fame class announced Monday that the school’s all-time winningest men’s basketball coach and a pair of members of the Jaguar track and field programs who competed at the NCAA Championships have been selected.
Arrow guided the USA men’s basketball team from 1988-95 and again from 2008-12. He holds the record for the most total and league school wins in the school’s history.
Mencnarowska was part of the Jaguar women’s track and field program from 1996-99. She helped USA win its first ever league titles at the Sun Belt Indoor and Outdoor Championships and became the first female in South Alabama to qualify for the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships.
Okello earned ALL -America honors in cross country in 2004 and ’05 and collected all-region accolades each of his three years running cross country at USA.
The USA Athletic Hall of Fame was created in 1989 and has inducted a total of 68 former student-athletes, coaches and administrator. The trio will bring this number up to 71 inductees.
