Three local teams move up in power poll

alpower25-9-19MOBILE, AL (WNSP) — AL.com updated its Power 25 high school football rankings today, and three of the five local teams moved up.

Spanish Fort, Davidson, and St. Pauls all jumped either two or three spots over the past week.

After beating Baldwin County 20-0, Spanish Fort jumped into the top 10, at the No. 9 spot. The Toros are off this week, but they travel to take on No. 5 Blount on Sept. 30.

The Leopards stayed in their spot after beating B.C. Rain 38-0. The No. 1 6A takes on the No. 1 7A team in McGill-Toolen, who remained in the No. 1 spot of this poll after beating Foley 38-10.

The other two local teams in the poll both climbed two spots together. Davidson, which beat Theodore 39-0, moved up to No. 12, and St. Paul’s moved to No. 13 after clobbering Dothan 42-0.

Both teams are off this week, but on Sept 30, the Warriors travel to Semmes to take on Montgomery, and the Saints will play at Jackson.

Hoover, Opelika and Hewitt-Trussville were ranked between McGill and Blount, in that order. Hillcrest-Tuscaloosa, Lee-Montgomery and Minor followed the Leopards at Nos. 7, 8 and 9.

Central-Phenix City rounded out the top ten.

No. 14 Enterprise travels to Theodore this Friday, and both Mary G. Montgomery and UMS-Wright were in the “receiving votes” category.
