The Wide World of Sports Settings

Watching the opening day of the Wimbledon tennis championships, with the pristine grass courts not yet chewed by a fortnight of play, I couldn’t help but wonder if this is the most beautiful setting in sports.

Few venues or events produce the awe that fans of Wimbledon experience… but it’s not unique.

It got me thinking: what sports sight is comparable or might even exceed what fans see at Wimbledon?

How about the azalea-lined drive leading up to the course at Augusta National for The Masters?

How about the vision of 100,000 fans at Bryant-Denny Stadium as the huge scoreboard shows Nick Saban leading the Tide out of the tunnel for a big game?

How about the majestic flight of the eagle over a sold-out Jordan-Hare Stadium?

What sports venue or vision gives you goose bumps? Let us know what you think.
