This week South Alabama clinched its fourth consecutive Vic Bubas Cup, signifying the top overall athletic program in the Sun Belt Conference.
The award, named for the former conference commissioner who passed away within the last year, recognizing conference results in both men’s and women’s sports.
While most of the attention goes to football and men’s basketball, this award shows that South Alabama athletics is succeeding across the board. The Jaguars earned the award with consistency throughout the program, with 13 of 16 teams finishing in the top half of the conference standings. Conference titles in soccer and tennis led the way.
The Jaguars will enter next season with new head coaches in football and men’s basketball. They will be expected to help keep South Alabama in its position as the top overall athletic program in the Sun Belt Conference.
