Power 25: 3 local teams fall, top-10 match set

alpower25-9-26MOBILE, AL (WNSP) — AL.com’s updated Power 25 rankings have set up a local top-ten matchup, despite both teams dropping this week.

Following its 45-12 loss to No. 1 McGill-Toolen, Blount dropped from No. 5 to No. 9 in AL.com’s updated Power 25 Poll. The Leopards host No. 10 Spanish Fort, who fell a spot in its bye week, this Friday.

The top-ten matchup will be the site for WNSP’s High School Football Game of the Week. Tune in at 6 p.m. for Pigskin Pete’s Pepsi Pregame Show, and stick around after the game for more Pigskin Pete in the Postgame show.

McGill, of course, remained undefeated and in the top spot. The Yellow Jackets host Alma Bryant this Friday.

Like the Toros, St Pauls suffered at the hands of its bye week, falling four spots from No. 13 to No. 17. The Saints continue their road trip this week, playing Jackson on the road.

Davidson’s bye week did not affect it, however. The No. 12 Warriors may have stayed in place, but they will travel to Semmes and take on Montgomery this Friday.

Those five teams were the only local teams in the rankings, but UMS-Wright and Vigor both received votes. The Bulldogs host Faith Academy, and the Wolves travel to Williamson this week.
