Ole Miss receiver’s attitude reflects that of his team

It’s embarrassing enough to lose a conference game 66-3. But when you quit on a play and quit on your team … you really need to Tighten Up.

Alabama led Ole Miss only 7-0 just five minutes into their game Saturday night in Tuscaloosa. Ole Miss quarterback Shea Patterson threw a slant pass for 6-foot-2, 200-pound receiver DaMarkus Lodge. Alabama defensive back Levi Wallace made a great play to intercept the pass.

But Lodge’s response was the most telling. He simply stopped playing. Linebacker Keith Holcombe took a couple of steps toward Lodge but quickly decided there was no need to try to block a player who had given up.

The Pick 6 didn’t really impact the outcome of the game. But it certainly gave a glimpse into the attitude of the Rebels, or at least one Rebel, who should have given a better effort.
