Ole Miss now a long way from first SEC Championship Game

Among the 14 members of the SEC, 10 have at least reached the SEC Championship Game in football.

It’s surprising that Missouri has been twice before Texas A&M has even been once, considering they entered the league together in 2012. But the Aggies’ streak is still at only five years.

But Kentucky, Vanderbilt and Ole Miss were member of the league when the title game was implemented in 1992. All three are still seeking their first SEC title game appearance.

In light of the NCAA charges handed down to Ole Miss this week, you have to wonder which of those schools will end their drought more quickly.

As of today, Kentucky is closer to reaching the SEC Championship Game than Ole Miss. Texas A&M is certainly in better shape than the Rebels.

Vanderbilt? That’s still far-fetched. But the fact that the Rebels are being compared in any way to Vanderbilt shows how debilitating this NCAA’s case could be for Ole Miss football.
