Muschamp right to allow grad transfer to play for Arkansas

When Arkansas plays at South Carolina on October 7, running back David Williams will be in familiar territory. That is, once he gets on the field. He’ll probably need directions to the visiting locker room.

Williams is a graduate of South Carolina who had some limited success with the Gamecocks but decided he wanted a fresh start as a graduate transfer.

South Carolina coach Will Muschamp could have probably blocked his transfer within the conference and to a team on the Gamecocks’ schedule. But Muschamp decided that wouldn’t be the right thing to do when it came to a player who had done everything right on and off the field.

Kudos to Muschamp for taking the high road in this case.

The next step for the SEC and the NCAA to take these kinds of decisions completely out of the hands of the school a player is leaving.

But until then, we’ll have to rely on the coaches doing the right thing in each individual case.

Give credit to Muschamp for doing just that.
