South Alabama football coach Joey Jones does not have an extension on his contract that ends March 31, 2018. Co-host of Sports Drive Creg Stephenson published an article for Al.com Tuesday about Jones’ contract situation.
South Alabama athletic director Joel Erdmann said he has not discussed an extension with Jones yet. However, Jones could receive an extension.
“‘As with everything, we’ll look at the season, in-progress and at the end,’ Erdmann said. ‘We’ll evaluate and go from there.’”
As the only coach in South Alabama history, Jones has posted a record of 48-42, including 23-27 in the Sun Belt Conference.
