If you lose by more than 20 points, you clearly need to Tighten Up

As we wind down the two-month-long debate about which teams should be the College Football Playoff and which teams should be left out it’s important to consider which teams have had a truly Tighten Up moment this season.
Only Alabama, Miami, Wisconsin and Central Florida are still undefeated. But there are a few other teams that have been at least competitive every week.

I’ll tell you who hasn’t been.
Ohio State, which was beaten by 31 by Iowa.
Notre Dame, which just lost by 33 to Miami.
Georgia, which was hammed by Auburn by 23.
USC, which lost by 35 to Notre Dame.
Washington State, which lost to Cal by 34.

All of these teams are or have been in the serious discussion about which four teams should make the playoff.
Maybe it’s just me, but I think if you lose a game by more than 30 points you probably forfeited your right to be considered a national championship finalist.
