FSU is Bama’s best matchup, but still an underdog

When you think of Alabama and Florida State in the modern era you think of the two best programs in college football.
Throw in Ohio State and Clemson for consideration, but the Tide and Seminoles certainly don’t take a backseat to anyone in recent college football.
But heading into Saturday night’s matchup of No. 1 vs. No. 3, are the two in the same stratosphere of college football?
The answer is no.
Because, since Nick Saban arrived in Tuscaloosa, there’s Alabama and everybody else. Here’s a quick comparison.
Over the last two seasons, Alabama has won 8 more games than Florida State.
Since Jimbo Fisher became head coach in Tallahassee, the Seminoles have posted a very impressive 78-17 record. That’s 9 losses more than Alabama over that span.
Does that mean Alabama is going to have an easy time with Florida State Saturday night. Of course not.
This is truly a matchup of two of the best teams in college football and the Seminoles could win. But, make no mistake, a Florida State win would be an upset.
