Cornelius Bennett is living the dream

Cornelius Bennett.

The former Alabama and NFL linebacker was in Mobile last week to be the keynote speaker at the Palmer-Williams Group’s second annual fundraising gala.

His message of hard work and perseverance was well received by everyone in attendance at the event to support for the organization founded by David Palmer and Sherman Williams.

The fact that Bennett now lives in Hollywood, Florida, is a dream fulfilled. While an All-American at Alabama, Bennett was flown to the Florida beach to take part in a photo shoot with all the other star players. He told himself that day that he would become a star in the NFL then live at that beachfront paradise.

Bennett accomplished those goals. Now there’s only one professional accomplishment left — being elected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

Eight former Crimson Tide players are in the Hall of Fame — John Hannah, Don Hutson, Joe Namath, Ozzie Newsome, Ken Stabler, Dwight Stephenson and Derrick Thomas.

Bennett’s credential make him a worthy candidate to join those great. Being chosen is the last goal Bennett needs to nail.
