WHEN YOU CAN HEAR HIM:
As a kid growing up on the mean streets of a subdivision in Palatine, IL, Chip Ramsey dreamed of being on the radio. That dream became a reality. God bless America.
He’s been there over thirty years (he started when he was seven) in a variety of formats which includes sports radio in markets like Nashville and Milwaukee. He’s covered everything from high school and college sports to Major League Baseball, the NFL and the NHL.
An accomplished play-by-play announcer, Chip did three seasons of college baseball for Indiana State University, as well as the Missouri Valley Conference baseball Tournament. He also called two SEC baseball tournaments for WJOX in Birmingham. And, he’s provided play by play for college basketball including Rose Hulman and Belmont, provided football sidelines reports for Indiana State and done high school football and basketball. On the pro front, Chip did some play by play work for the Nashville Sounds and the Nashville Kats of the Arena Football League.
If you listen mornings on WNSP, you know that Chip is an emotional and engaged Chicago White Sox fan who also cheers for the Chicago Bears and Chicago Blackhawks. He has accepted the Alabama Crimson Tide football team not only as a condition of marriage, but because he spotted a prime spot on the bandwagon.
Chip is gratefully married to Princess, a debutante from Alabama. He has a daughter, Jordan, from his first marriage and two step-daughters, Debbie and Stephanie. Chip and Princess are empty nesters, but have two dog children, a Bichon Poo named Butkus D. Dogg and a Bichon Frise named Murphy A. Dogg
