By the numbers, Auburn’s defense is SEC’s best

Which SEC team has the best defense in 2017? Based on the numbers through four games it’s clear — it’s Auburn.
The Tigers are the only team in the country to have played four games and not yet allowed more than 14 points in a game. They’ve yielded 7 to Georgia Southern, 14 to national champion Clemson, 10 to Mercer and 14 to a Missouri team that’s an embarrassment overall but does have some offensive weapons and a veteran quarterback.
Now comes a different kind of challenge when Mississippi State visits Saturday. Bulldog quarterback Nick Fitzgerald, who led Mississippi State’s offense last year to — you could have guessed it — 14 points against Auburn.
In fact, that game in Starkville started a run of eight times in the the last 12 games the Tigers have given up 14 points or fewer.
Is there any reason to believe that streak won’t continue Saturday in Auburn?
