Auburn fires Tony Barbee after elimination

As one season ended, a new era began.

Auburn fired their head men’s basketball coach Tony Barbee, shortly after being eliminated from the SEC tournament by South Carolina.

The Tigers finished under .500 this season at (14-16), with Barbee failing to win more than 6 conference games for the fourth year in a row.

Athletic Director Jay Jacobs acknowledged that it was time to make a change, after a careful review of the program’s past four years.
