Auburn AD Allen Greene Steps Down From Role

Auburn athletic director Allen Greene has stepped down from the role, he announced earlier this afternoon. Greene had been at the school since 2018 when he was hired from Buffalo after he arrived there as the assistant AD from Ole Miss

His contract was expiring five months from now in January, and with a lack of clarity on his future, he decided to make the move to step down now. Greene led the search that ended in hiring Bryan Harsin as head coach of the football team, and this likely led to the administration wanting to wait until the end of football season to make a decision on his future.

In a statement released by the University, Greene had this to say:

“The decision to step away from Auburn athletics is not an easy one, but it is the right time for me to begin the next step in my professional journey,” Greene said in a statement released by the school. “I am very proud of the work that we have done together to move our athletics program forward… I wish Auburn nothing but the best in the years ahead. I’m confident we leave Auburn athletics stronger than when we arrived.”
