An educated crowd is not overrated

Alabama fans showed up in huge numbers Saturday for the Tide’s basketball game against Oklahoma and star player Trae Young.
The crowd was great for the most part and should be commended. But there is still some Tightening Up that needs to be done before Alabama can be considered a good basketball school.

One major issue was the treatment of Young, the spectacular freshman. As soon as Alabama began having success against him, the Tide crowd began chanting “Overrated!”

Here’s the thing Alabama fans: Just because your team is doing well against a great player does not mean he’s overrated. It could be — and I know this is a strange concept — that your team is actually good and that’s why the opposing star isn’t dominating the game.

Second, there’s no reason to poke the bear. Young was eventually going to show why he’s going to be a lottery pick in the NBA draft after only one season.
Young did show his considerable talent, making several incredible plays.

He’s anything but overrated. He just wasn’t good enough to lead his team to a win over an improving Alabama squad.
