Derrick Henry broke just about every record a high school running back could, now he’s looking to make an impact in a crowded Alabama backfield.

Daphne’s TJ Yeldon will step up as the feature back for the Tide in 2013, with the departure of Eddie Lacy, leaving five other running backs to compete to be his backup.

Nick Saban has always used two running backs in his offense, a slasher and a bruiser.

Luckily for 5-star running back Derrick Henry, he can be both.

Henry will compete with Jalston Fowler, Dee Hart, Altee Tenpenny, Alvin Kamara, and Tyren Jones.

Hart and Fowler are returning from season-ending injuries in 2012, while the others are fresh recruits.

Not everyone will be redshirted, and not everyone will get to play in the first year.

One thing’s for sure, is that Saban will find a way to utilize everyone in the offense.

In a perfect world, this could be a realistic situation: Jalston Fowler will be a hybrid H-Back/Fullback, Dee Hart could be limited to kickoff and punt returns, Alvin Kamara would be used in a slot receiver role, Altee Tenpenny could be the change of pace back, Derrick Henry would be the goal line bruiser, and Tyren Jones would be the odd man out to redshirt.
