The South Alabama Jaguars’ offensive line got a major boost Monday when they received a verbal commitment from Mesa Community College transfer David Griffin, according to JagsJungle.com.
Griffin is a 6’7 315lb left tackle out of Tallahassee, Florida.
He garnered interest from numerous programs, including: FAU, Ole Miss, USF, Utah, and Mississippi State. Griffin only received offers from South Alabama and FAU.
Ironically, he chose to commit to South Alabama after their double overtime victory over FAU this past weekend.
Jaguars Cornerback Tyrell Pearson, a former teammate of Griffin, could be credited in helping convince the impact left tackle to choose South Alabama.
Joey Jones expects Griffin to compete for a spot on the offensive line in the spring, once he enrolls in January.
The Jaguars have now brought in two difference-makers on the offensive line with James Elliot and David Griffin, increasing optimism for their first official FBS season in 2013.
