Who says revenge is a dish best served cold? It was a balmy 80 degrees when the UTSA Road Runners got revenge for a triple-overtime loss on a blocked field-goal to the Jags with a game-winning 51-yard field-goal. The Jags look to rebound today against Nicholls State in a game at Ladd-Peebles Stadium.
South is coming off a loss in their season opener for the first time in school history; thanks in large part to a crucial personal foul penalty on the ensuing kick-off after the Jags went up 31-30. The Jags will be looking to cut down on the penalties and turnovers after committing seven penalties for 80 yards and turning the ball over four times.
The Colonels get ready for their first contest of the 2012 season after their opening game against Oregon St. was cancelled due to Hurricane Isaac. After going 1-10 last season, Nicholls State are looking to improve overall, but also while maintaining a rushing attack that gained over 2,000 yards last season
The last time South and Nicholls State met was in 2010, also at Ladd-Peebles, and the Jags came out on top 39-21. Kendall Houston led all rushers with 116 yards and two touchdowns, while Nicholls State quarterback LaQuinton Caston moved to wide receiver in the offseason.
