Gene Chizik has named sophomore quarterback Kiehl Frazier Auburn’s starting quarterback.

Frazier appeared in 13 games with the Tigers last season and will be called upon to be the leader of this young offense.

After weeks of speculation, the signs began to add up to this obvious choice.

Clint Mosley, who was in the running for the job, made it clear through a series of statements that he wasn’t going to be the option.

“They say if I was a pitcher, they’d put me on the DL”

That’s all Auburn fans had to hear to realize that there was never really any tough decision to be made, it was just a matter of Coach Chizik trying to get Frazier to believe he had to earn the job.

Frazier told reporters this morning that if the team had to play this weekend, that they would be ready.

Auburn opens the season against no.14 Clemson in the Chick-Fil-A Kickoff Game from the Georgia Dome, Saturday September 1, at 7pm ET on ESPN.
