TUSCALOOSA — Junior right-hander Nathan Kilcrease (6-2, 2.47 ERA) will start second-seeded Alabama’s opening game in the Atlanta Regional on Friday against third-seeded Elon, Crimson Tide coach Mitch Gaspard said today.
“From there, we’ll obviously play the matchups,” Gaspard said.
If Alabama (37-22) and Georgia Tech (45-13) advance to a winner’s bracket game on Saturday, the pitching pairing probably would be two junior right handers, Alabama ace Jimmy Nelson (8-2, 3.69 ERA) and Georgia Tech ace Deck McGuire (8-4, 3.01 ERA).
