Cross another player off the list for Alabama basketball coach Anthony Grant.

Crimson Tide senior forward Demetrius Jemison said today he has elected to transfer for his final season. Jemison said he has met with Grant to request a release on his scholarship.

“This wasn’t an easy decision for me,” Jemison said. “That’s what I want people to understand. But it’s something I really wanted to try and something I really wanted to do.”

A 6-foot-8 senior from Birmingham’s Huffman High School, Jemison played in 93 games during three seasons under previous Alabama coach Mark Gottfried. Jemison redshirted this past season — Grant's first at Alabama — after rupturing his Achilles tendon during a preseason workout.

Jemison joins forward Justin Knox, who recently transferred to North Carolina with one year of remaining eligiblity. Jemison obtained his undergraduate degree this month. Like Knox, he can enroll in graduate school at another institution and be eligible immediately if UA clears his release and he enrolls in a graduate program that was not offered at UA.
