You think that Auburn fans are impatient? New Head Coach Gus Malzahn isn’t playing around with this quarterback race.

Last year’s starter Khiel Frazier made the decision a little easier, earlier in the week, when he voluntarily changed positions to safety.
Reports are that Jonathan Wallace isn’t completely out of the race for the starting job, but it doesn’t look favorable for him.
The finalists appear to be either JUCO transfer Nick Marshall or true freshman Jeremy Johnson.
Johnson was one of the Tigers’ top prospects in the last recruiting class and could be viewed as a move for the long-term benefits.
Nick Marshall, on the other hand, has more experience at the college level.
Before his Junior College days, Marshall got some game experience at Georgia.
He was more of a defensive back during that season, but Marshall is very capable of being the starter.
Auburn is set to have their second team scrimmage on Saturday, which will feature a majority of the two-deep depth chart that Malzahn has already projected.
The quarterback position is the last piece of the puzzle for the coaching staff.
If they choose to go with Marshall, you can expect that they are either wanting Johnson to learn more from the sidelines first or that Marshall is very much ready to lead this team to higher expectations.
The staff has no plans to redshirt Jeremy Johnson if he is not named the starting quarterback for the season opener.
