It was almost deja vu in the Auburn locker room, following their recent scrimmage, with a quarterback choosing to change positions for the good of the team.
Last year’s starter Khiel Frazier announced to the team that he would be switching to safety, a position that he played at times in high school.
Gus Malzahn followed that news with the announcement that JUCO transfer Nick Marshall and true freshman Jeremy Johnson will get the majority of snaps going forward with the first unit.
Marshall has already been receiving high praise from the coaching staff this summer, but Johnson could be making a strong push as the season is vastly approaching.
Johnson, Alabama’s 2012 Mr. Football, was one of the highest rated recruits in the recent class and is viewed as the eventual quarterback of the future, despite the outcome of the current competition.
