Minnesota Vikings players offered their reactions to last week’s tweet from New Orleans Saints safety Darren Sharper, who said, “X marks the spot” in reference to Vikings quarterback Brett Favre’s surgically repaired ankle.

The Saints caused that ankle injury in the NFC Championship Game in the Superdome in January, and now Sharper is adding some spice to their scheduled Week 1 rematch – assuming, of course, that Favre plans to return to the field this year.

The best response from the Vikings came from tight end Visanthe Shiancoe, who pointed out that, “Sharper had surgery, too. And it was a knee. If x marks the spot on Brett, I wonder what marks the spot on Sharper?”

Shiancoe, however, said he didn’t take Sharper’s “trash talk” very seriously.

“I think it was a joke,” Shiancoe said. “I know Sharp. That’s my boy. We hang out. It’s like he said before the NFC Championship game, he told me their whole goal was to aim for my knees. And they didn’t do it. I know he talks trash.”
