HOOVER — Wearing an oversized pink foam-rubber cowboy hat that displays a sheriff’s badge, pitcher Adam Morgan climbed to the top step of the dugout, turned to delighted Alabama fans in the stands and grinned.

“It looks goofy, I know,” he said.

The hat or the grin? Both, actually.

“It’s just something we do,” he said after pitching a complete game in the Crimson Tide’s 5-2 victory over Florida on Saturday at Regions Park.

With its eighth consecutive victory, seventh-seeded Alabama advanced to the Southeastern Conference Tournament championship game at 1 p.m. Sunday against eighth-seeded LSU. The Tigers advanced with an 8-0 victory over Ole Miss on a day when no “if-necessary” games were necessary and all games were reduced to seven innings because the start of the first game was delayed 90 minutes by rain.

Morgan (6-4), a sophomore left-hander, allowed two runs on six hits, struck out five and walked none. It was Alabama's third-consecutive outstanding performance from a starting pitcher. Jimmy Nelson pitched a complete game Wednesday in a 7-1 victory over Auburn in the tournament's opening game. Nathan Kilcrease went 8 2/3 innings Thursday in a 6-3 victory over Ole Miss.
